Fair Trade Certified Brazil Ouro Fino

Our Director of Coffee Development Adam Pesce recently traveled to the village of Machado in Brazil as a member of an international team of jurors for a Fair Trade cupping competition. Certified producer groups and co-ops from around Brazil sent in the best of their crops, all from farms that adhere to Fair Trade's innovative socio-economic standards and practices. In total, jurors cupped 47 coffees over three days to select the best that the country had to offer.

At the auction following the competition, Adam purchased one of the top three micro-lots—a natural-process coffee from the region of Ouro Fino. Grown on the picturesque farm of Francisco Pereira, the coffee's character reflects the care and knowledge with which Francisco tends his plot. After a visit to the farm, Adam knew he had made the right decision as this exceptional harvest features a distinctive flavor profile unlike any we have ever cupped.

We will be roasting this small, 20-bag lot at a light Full City roast to highlight the strong blueberry essence on the nose and in the cup, along with notes of port and maple syrup.

This coffee is now available as a regular stock item in 5lb whole bean format and is being featured while supplies last in extra bold single-cup coffee pods (6x16ct), portion packages (24ct) and 10 x 12 oz retail format whole bean.
